Projects Completed

This is a baby quilt I made for Andrew. It is sewn completly by hand using the english paper piecing method. It was also quilted by hand.
This yellow quilt is one I had acually started for Rebecca, but when I found out about her CDH I didn't have the time to finish it. I finished it for Andrew to use. It was sewn by machine and hand quilted. The blocks are Winnie the Pooh prints I found at ebay.

These are curtain shalls I made for our basement, which is our guest room and my sewing room. I am not totally happy with the way they hang and am still looking for a solution. There are two windows, so I made a total of 4 shalls. They are machine sewn and quilted. Those are 6 inch traditional blocks - my favorites!

So, as you can see, I wasn't totally useless during my pregnancy :) I also did some crocheting and knitting projects, studied german grammar and watched way too much TV :)

UpDate

Now it is time to update this Blog! I have been keeping up with Facebook, which I think I am going to use to keep up to date with friends and family news and then use this blog more for my quilts and crafts. But of course, any significant news will end up here too. The most important news I have is Andrew is here! He was born on the 20th of April, weighed 3720g and was 52 cm long. He has grown quite a bit since then :) Andy is a good baby and really only cries when he needs something. He started smiling at us last week, which makes him even more irresistable :)

A big Thankyou goes out to all those who have set us such beautiful gifts, many handmade. I am still working on getting out thank you notes.

Count Down!

It has been a while since I have blogged. I just haven't had much to tell!! Until now.....
The good news is that I am getting to the end of this pregnancy! I am in the 33rd week, still at home and not on any meds! This is amazing, considering my medical history and my previous pregnancies! Andrew weights about 4 1/2 pounds and is doing really well. At 36 weeks, my doctor is going to remove the cerclage and then we can expect him to come soon after that! We are all very excited and really looking forward to having a boy in the house! Unfortunatly, I was not able to get an ultrasound picture for you. Andrew would not hold still long enough to get a clear shot - he was too busy playing with his toes!

Mini Snowman Quilt

Here is my newest finished project! It is a counted cross stitch from "The Cross Stitcher" magazine 1999 and the snowflakes are crocheted from patterns I saved online ages ago and no longer know the source. I am really really happy with the results and almost wish I wasn't giving it away! It is going to a friend's daughter as a Christmas gift.

Back at the Sewing Machine!

My doctor lifted some of the restraints of bedrest and I am allowed to sit at my sewing machine for a half an hour every day - Yepee!!! I know it is not much, but it feels so good! I was having serious withdrawl symptoms and my machine was starting to forget who I am :) I will get pictures online as soon as I have something to show off :)
I am also allowed to go swimming, which is very good since I have lost so much muscle being on bedrest for the last 3 months. We went to the pool yesterday evening with the girls and even though I only swam 3 laps (with long breaks between each one) my muscles in my shoulders and butt are sore!
Don't worry about me overdoing anything. I am well aware of all the risks and am not taking any chances.
Andrew is doing really well and growing fast! He weighs about 450 grams - about 1 pound, and is very very active. We have passed the halfway mark and even though April is still a while away, we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
